At a meeting of experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications for the effective use of public radio waves, we requested that Rakuten Mobile review its allocation, saying that the frequencies assigned to it were low.

On the other hand, the other three major mobile phone companies disagreed that they should consider carefully, and will proceed with the consideration at the meeting in the future.

At the meeting on the 23rd, mobile phone radio waves were discussed, and NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, and Softbank also attended.

Among them, Mr. Yoshihisa Yamada, president of Rakuten Mobile, which has entered the mobile phone business in earnest since April, said, "The frequency assigned is overwhelmingly small, and the radio waves used by the other three major companies. It's not fair to have no easy-to-reach frequency frame. "

In addition, in order to ensure a fair competitive environment, we introduced a mechanism to redistribute frequencies that are easily reachable by radio waves, and requested that new businesses be prioritized when allocating new frequencies in the future.

In response, the other three major companies commented that frequency reallocation could require a large amount of money, such as equipment refurbishment, and should be carefully considered.

At the meeting, we will proceed with the examination based on these opinions and will compile a report by next summer.
