As of last year, 6 out of 10 middle-aged and elderly people aged 40 to 64 in Korea were found to be homeless.



Middle-aged and senior citizens owed banks to 6 out of 10, and the median balance of loans (the value located in the center when statistical data were arranged in order of size) was 48.6 million won.



● According to



the '2019 Middle and Senior Administrative Statistics Results' released by the National Statistical Office on the 22nd of the National Statistical Office on the 22nd, the population of middle-aged and elderly people was 19,999,000 people last year. They accounted for 40.0% of the total population of Koreans.



Of these, as of November 1, last year, 42.6% (851 million people) owned houses and 57.4% (11469,000 people) were homeless.



Compared to a year ago, the proportion of homeless people decreased by 0.6 percentage points, and the proportion of homeless people increased by that amount.



1, 34.9% (69,698,000), 2, 6.0% (1,27,000), and 1.7% (335,000) with 3 or more houses.



The proportion of homelessness was higher with age, and the proportion of homeowners was the opposite.




● 56.3% is a bank debt...

Those with homes owe 3.9 times that



of

homeless

people, 56.3% of middle-aged and senior citizens (11253,000 people) had loan balances in the financial sector.



The proportion of loan balance holders increased 0.2 percentage points from the previous year.



This figure does not include bonds, rental deposits, and loans from third-party financial sectors such as lenders.



The median balance of loans was KRW 48.58 million, an increase of 8.9% from KRW 44.59 million a year ago.



Among the loan balance holders, 32.8% had debts of 100 million won or more.



The median balance of loans for homeowners was 92.6 million won, which was 3.9 times that of homeless people (24 million won).



It translates to meaning that your debts have increased as you buy a house.



The median balance of loans for employed was KRW 58.48 million, which was 2.1 times that of 27.09 million KRW for unemployed workers, and the median balance for non-wage workers was KRW 83.14 million, which was 1.7 times that of 50 million KRW for wage workers.



● 360,000'Kangaroos' in their 30s who live with middle-aged and elderly parents without employment



Last year, the number of middle-aged and elderly household heads or household members was 1,3088,000, accounting for 64.3% of the total households.



The most common household composition is 37.5% of couples and unmarried children, followed by single-person households (18.4%) and couples (14.6%).



Apartment residences were 55.8%, an increase of 3.5 percentage points from a year ago, and detached house residences decreased by 3.2 percentage points to 27.5%.



Of the 11.17 million households whose heads are middle and old, the number of households with children decreased by 1.1 percentage points to 58.1%.



Of the 5072,000 children aged 19 and over living together, 46.8% (2376,000 children) were unemployed.



1054,000 children over the age of 30 also live with middle-aged and elderly households, of which 33.8% (357,000) were unemployed.



The number of'Kangaroos' living with their parents without employment even after their 30s reached 360,000.
