(Economic Observation) China's manufacturing industry accelerates digital transformation to shape new development advantages

China News Service, Foshan, December 20 (Reporter Cheng Jingwei) The 2020 China Enterprise Digital Summit will be held in Foshan, Guangdong from December 18th to 19th.

Industry insiders pointed out that the new crown pneumonia epidemic this year has forced manufacturing companies to accelerate the pace of digital transformation, shaping new advantages for high-quality development.

Since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has promoted the implementation of digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, guided enterprises to carry out digital, networked, and intelligent transformation, built an industrial Internet platform, strengthened the typical applications of 5G and artificial intelligence in intelligent manufacturing, and accelerated the cultivation of manufacturing New business models and new business formats.

In Guangdong, in accordance with the principle of “enterprise provides a little bit, the platform gives a little bit, and the government makes a little bit”, the province promotes small and medium-sized industrial enterprises to “apply on the cloud and the platform” extensively through rewards and subsidies after the fact.

Up to now, Guangdong has promoted more than 15,000 industrial enterprises to implement digital transformation using industrial Internet technology, drove 500,000 enterprises to "go online and use the cloud" to reduce costs and improve quality and efficiency, and promote the transformation and upgrading of the province's manufacturing industry.

An intelligent manufacturing roundtable forum was held at the summit.

"Digital transformation has become an inevitable trend for enterprise development." At the forum, Li Peigen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former president of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, believed that cloud computing, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), etc. As represented by technology, a new generation of information technology and manufacturing are integrated and developed, forming a new format.

At the same time, the application of digital twins (the mirroring of the physical world in the virtual world) is gradually becoming an important trend in the new generation of manufacturing, and 5G and cloud computing platforms are also promoting the creation of more smart factories.

After the outbreak of the epidemic this year, some companies with early and high levels of digital transformation have been relatively less affected, and many have achieved growth against the trend.

At the same time, many traditional enterprises have been severely impacted. In particular, many small, medium and micro enterprises are particularly sensitive to changes in the external environment brought about by the epidemic and face greater pressure to survive.

"The new crown pneumonia epidemic has impacted and restrained China's manufacturing industry in the short term, but in the long term it has promoted the digital transformation of enterprises." Zhang Chengkang, chairman and CEO of Saiyi Information, believes that China must change from a traditional manufacturing country. To become a manufacturing powerhouse needs to be realized through the "intelligence" of data.

"If you don't embrace digital transformation in advance, you may miss the opportunity. Although you are now the industry leader, you may fall behind due to efficiency issues after 5 years."

Zhang Chengkang said that in the era of the Internet of Everything and the Perception of Everything, through customized business scenarios, enterprises can effectively implement digitalization.

He believes that the large scene represented by the unmanned factory can form a highly automated mass production based on "human-mechanical-soft integration" through the human-machine collaboration of the manufacturing process and the application of new technologies, reducing production costs and reducing personnel dependence. .

Su Liqing, vice president and chief digital transformation officer of Huawei Cloud, believes that with the development of 5G and Industry 4.0, industrial big data will inevitably spew out, and OT (operational technology) data and IT (information technology) data will also form a convergence. Plays an important role in the new digital transformation of the industry.
