No other manufacturer can keep up: LG offers more televisions from the cheapest to the best OLED TV than other brands with the new screen technology.

This is not surprising, after all, the sister company LG Display is still the only producer of OLED screens in TV-compatible size.

OLED technology gives screens perfect contrast and brilliant colors.

So far, OLED televisions have only been available from a screen size of 140 centimeters (55 inches) and up.

A smaller version with a screen size of 48 inches or 122 centimeters has also been available this year.

At the other end, the scale goes up to a massive 88 inches.

This corresponds to a screen diagonal of 2.23 meters.

The test by "Computer Bild" explains how the LG OLED TVs differ and which model is particularly worthwhile.

The secret of OLED screens are the self-illuminating pixels.

Each screen composes the television images from millions of tiny pixels.

In LCD televisions, large-area LED light behind them lights up the pixels.

Because there is always something shimmering through even in the darkest areas of the image, perfect contrast with deep black can only be achieved with technical pull-ups.

It's quite different with OLED screens: They display perfectly black pixels by simply switching off the corresponding pixels - nothing shimmers through.

There are also intense colors that appear livelier and clearer on the black background.

LG uses its own smart TV operating system Web-OS for its OLED televisions.

This is characterized by simple operation including proper voice control and a large selection of apps.

In addition to the applications from the major streaming providers such as Amazon and Netflix, there is also one for the new Disney + service, as well as the Apple TV app.

The offers access to the films and series in the iTunes Store as well as the flat rate offer Apple TV +.

Good for owners of LG OLED televisions from model years 2019 and 2018: The Apple TV app is also available for them.

And if you are looking for LG convenience at a lower price, you can opt for one of the smartly equipped LG LCD televisions such as the LG Nano816NA.

In addition, there are the technical ingredients typical for OLED televisions from LG, such as HDR playback including Dolby Vision.

The new HGiG game mode should be interesting for gamers, as it allows consoles and graphics cards to bypass the entire image processing of the television.

This promises the best possible image quality with the shortest possible display delay (latency).

The LG OLED TVs with their HDMI 2.1 connections are compatible with Nvidia graphics cards with G-Sync and AMD Freesync technology.

LG OLED BX: Great picture at a low price

Even the cheapest LG OLED BX model series impressively demonstrated the strengths of OLED technology in the test.

Compared to the more expensive models, the maximum brightness is primarily a bit lower.

In the test, it was 560 candelas per square meter, which is what better LCD or LED televisions can achieve.

More expensive OLEDs come to around 700 candelas per square meter.

Anyone who watches TV in daylight will notice the difference.

The sound of the cheap OLED BX is okay, a soundbar can be added for a stronger sound.

LG offers the OLED BX in the two most popular sizes 55 inches and 65 inches with 140 and 163 centimeters screen diagonal.

LG OLED CX: price-performance giant from 48 inches

LG offers the compact OLED variant in the OLED CX series, the successor to the successful OLED C9.

The CX is also available in the tried and tested sizes of 55 inches and 65 inches (140 and 163 centimeters), as well as - another novelty in this class - in gigantic 77 inches (195 centimeters).

Here LG tickles even more brilliant picture quality from the OLED screens, supported by a more powerful processor (Alpha 9 instead of Alpha 7).

The equipment is practically the same, the loudspeakers are a striking difference: The broad, curved base conducts their sound forwards towards the audience; hardly anyone will miss a soundbar.

LG OLED GX and OLED WX: beautiful TVs

LG has thoroughly refined the design of its top models.

In the case of the OLED WX model series, this is comparatively little noticeable, because like earlier W models, such as the OLED W8, it impresses with its non-design.

The screens are only about three millimeters thin over the entire area and hang seamlessly on the wall like a poster.

LG also speaks of wallpaper OLED with the WX.

Connections, loudspeakers and electronics are located in a separate soundbar, which looks more angular and modern on the new model.

The WX is initially only available in the new form in 65 inches (164 centimeters) for 7500 euros.

The OLED GX works without a soundbar and can also be hung on the wall like a picture.

The entire television is just as thick as a thumb (20 millimeters for the 65-inch model), and all the electronics with connections and speakers are in the flat case.

A special wall bracket leaves no gap to the wall and thus underlines the image design.

Holes in the rear wall leave space for cables and connections.

LG offers the OLED GX in 55, 65 and 77 inches (140 to 195 centimeters); a detailed test of the LG OLED 65GX can be found here.

LG OLED RX: Now comes the rollable TV!

LG already showed its most spectacular television in 2019, and sales are now starting: With the LG OLED RX, the screen rolls into the TV base after switching off.

It is made of solid aluminum and also contains the speakers, which can also be used as a Bluetooth box.

Depending on how it is used, the screen can be extended to different extents: just under 30 centimeters high as an information display or for displaying titles when playing music - or at full height for playing films.

LG builds the OLED RX exclusively with a screen diagonal of 164 centimeters (65 inches) with UHD resolution.

It goes without saying that this mechanical work of art cannot be cheap, LG is calling for 74,000 euros for it.

LG OLED ZX: The 8K bolides

While the previously mentioned model series of OLED televisions from LG come up with today's standard UHD resolution (3840x2160 pixels), LG has quadrupled the number of its flagship OLED ZX to 7680x4320 pixels.

Films, series and TV programs with this 8K resolution are - apart from individual activities such as sporting events - not to be expected in the medium term.

The test of the predecessor LG OLED Z9 showed the strengths of the mega-resolution even with HD material: Such a homogeneous, artifact-free image enables a completely new television experience.

Because viewers can easily get up to around three meters to the giant picture, so that an engaging picture impression is created, like in the cinema.

Like its predecessor, the new 8K OLED should be available with a screen diagonal of 215 centimeters (88 inches, 30,000 euros), but also in the living room-friendly 77-inch format with 195 centimeters for 20,000 euros.

While the 88-inch model is permanently mounted on an aluminum stand, the 77 is also suitable for wall mounting.
