The Social Chamber of the

Superior Court of Justice of Galicia

has decreed

null the ERE that Alcoa wanted to apply in the San Cibrao plant

(Lugo), by appreciating "bad faith" in this business measure, and the central and regional governments expect , with that resolution in hand, that now its sale is possible.

Both the Government Delegation in Galicia and the Xunta have expressly expressed their

desire that the multinational aluminum company agree to continue the negotiation process for the sale

of the San Cibrao plant and the plaintiffs' unions -CIG, UGT and CCOO- have shown their satisfaction after judicially ratifying the nullity of the Employment Regulation File (ERE).

Upon hearing this ruling, which condemns the company to keep the 524 employees affected by the collective dismissal, the Minister of Industry, Reyes Maroto, who is in quarantine, has published a tweet in which he has assured that "justice is done "with a whole region, that of A Mariña, where" today they can be calmer. "

The

delegate of the Government in Galicia, Javier Losada, has trusted that this judicial decision means "another step" towards the maintenance of employment

and industrial activity, and has hoped that Alcoa agrees to continue with until the frustrated date of the transaction.

The

economic vice president and councilor for Economy, Business and Innovation, Francisco Conde,

wished Alcoa "to return to the path of dialogue" to negotiate the sale of the plant and has stated that this is "good news" for the families that they have struggled for months.

For his part, the president of the Alcoa San Cibrao works council, José Antonio Zan, has applauded that "justice has been done" and has celebrated the opinion at the doors of the only primary aluminum factory that remains in Spain.

He has done it by uncorking champagne bottles with his colleagues.

The Secretary General of CCOO de Galicia, Ramón Sarmiento, has described today as "a great day for the Galician working class" and has summoned the public administrations to "make viable an industrial alternative that guarantees employment in the region of A Marine".

From UGT-Fica-Galicia they have valued the sentence "very positively", and have indicated that

the multinational "has no choice but to reflect and sit down again to negotiate" the sale.

Meanwhile, the other plaintiff union, CIG, is clearer in demanding a

public intervention of the plant to avoid its "dismantling"

and also, like the others, values the "enormous capacity for struggle and resistance" of Workers.

At the opposite extreme, sources from the multinational

Alcoa have insisted on remarking that they have acted "in good faith" and "in full compliance with the law"

and, in statements to Efe, have stressed that they are reviewing the ruling of the Galician high court to determine "next steps" to take.

In political terms, the leader of the BNG, Ana Pontón, and the deputy of United Podemos Antón Gómez Reino have been in favor of a public "intervention" of the company.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of the PSdeG, Gonzalo Caballero, has urged Alcoa to "allow" the sale.

"We have to maintain all the pressure on Alcoa to rectify now," said the Socialist leader.
