Business creations picked up slightly in November (+ 0.9%), driven by construction activities and micro-enterprises, after a small decline in October, reported Insee on Wednesday.

In total, 84,295 companies were created in November in France, including 25.3% of companies and 74.7% of individual companies, specifies in a press release the National Institute of Statistics.

In October, business start-ups fell 0.2%, based on data adjusted for seasonal variations and working days.

In November, "the strongest increases concerned construction activities (+ 16.5%, particularly for electrical installation work in all premises) and information and communication activities (+ 7.6%)" , details the press release.

A net increase overall since September

Over the last three months (September to November), the cumulative number of companies is “clearly up” compared to the same months of 2019 (+ 19%), thanks to the “transport and storage” sector and in particular within it to post and mail activities (+14,700 creations over the last three months).

This boom reflects in particular the development of home delivery services, observes INSEE.

The number of start-ups over the past 12 months is up 4.5%, with a 3.2% drop in company start-ups and a 7.4% increase in the number of new sole proprietorships.
