Strata Manufacturing - the company that specializes in the manufacture of airframe parts from composite materials and wholly owned by Mubadala Investment Company - announced the delivery of the first shipment of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner vertical stabilizer to Boeing as part of an official virtual event celebrating the 49th National Day of the UAE.

Strata revealed - during a media briefing held today by default - the details of the delivery of the first shipments of the vertical fenders of the B787 plane to Boeing, in the presence of members of the senior management of the two companies.

This achievement is further evidence of the development of the manufacturing and engineering capabilities of the Al Ain-based company.

The shipment included the first vertical stabilizer for Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft being fully assembled outside Boeing facilities in the United States, and the vertical stabilizer will be installed on the Boeing 787 aircraft at the Boeing facility located in North Charleston, South Carolina, at the beginning of 2021.

Ismael Ali Abdullah, CEO of Strata, said: “Strata, the pioneering company in the aviation industry, is enhancing its strategic growth by continuously enhancing its manufacturing capabilities. We are proud that the delivery of these important and collected parts in the UAE coincides in full with the country's celebration of its National Day. The 49th.

Ismail added: “The delivery of the first of its kind at the global level confirms the strong partnership between Strata and Boeing, and the success of Strata in implementing its plans to expand its current plant and build a new production line that will employ all the advanced equipment and tools used in the Boeing 787 Dreamliner plant.

The move reinforces Strata's position as a major and trusted contributor to the global aviation supply chain.

Our deep and established partnership with Boeing has provided us with great opportunities to enhance mutual cooperation, continue to develop our engineering and manufacturing capabilities, and successfully overcome the challenges posed by the Coronavirus crisis. ”For his part, Bernie Dan, President of Boeing in the Middle East, said:“ In ten years Strata has moved on from an idea. Innovative ambition to one of Boeing's leading suppliers of advanced composite materials airframe parts, and the only one in the Middle East.

Strata plays a pivotal role in implementing the UAE's vision in the aviation industry, especially given the country's focus on developing a sustainable manufacturing base.

The company is currently assembling five new shipments of Boeing 787 Vertical Stabilizer.

The production line of vertical stabilizer units for Boeing 787 Dreamliner 47 aircraft is staffed by technical experts, inspectors and engineers, and 40% of them are Emiratis.

New employees will join the team to support future expansion plans for the program, with the goal of forming a team of 75 employees by the end of 2022.

It should be noted that the partnership between Boeing and Strata began in 2011, when Boeing contracted for the first time with the Emirati company to be among its elite suppliers.

Strata has been selected to manufacture parts for the Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft.

The UAE company remains the main supplier of airframe parts from advanced composite materials to Boeing in the Middle East region, and today it is responsible for manufacturing vertical and horizontal stabilizer ribs for the tail of the Boeing 777 and the new Boeing 777X, as well as the vertical stabilizer ribs for the tail of the Boeing 787 aircraft.
