When Argentines take a 1,000 peso bill out of their pockets, they are actually taking out six euros.

The striking thing is that those six euros are the maximum they can aspire to today, because

there is no bill greater than the 1,000 pesos.

The government does not want to issue 5,000 or 10,000 bills.

The reason?

"They understand that it would be to recognize inflation,"

argues the local press.

And no one in the Government denies that explanation, which moves between the childish and the not very serious.
