JR East and KDDI will collaborate in creating a state-of-the-art city that provides remote work places and telemedicine services, making full use of high-speed, large-capacity communication standards = 5G.

This was announced at a press conference held in Tokyo on the 15th by President Yuji Fukasawa of JR East and President Makoto Takahashi of KDDI.

The two companies will collaborate on a large-scale redevelopment project around Takanawa Gateway Station on the Yamanote Line, which is being promoted by JR East, and will utilize the new communication standard 5G and IoT that connects everything to the Internet to create a state-of-the-art city. I aim to make it.

Specifically, we envision telemedicine and drone-based package delivery services.

In addition, we will set up bases for remote work that realize the same communication environment as the workplace in each place, and will create offices that consider convenience and safety.

From next spring, the two companies will open such offices in 1 metropolitan area and 3 prefectures in the Kanto region, improve the communication environment with some of the vehicles on the Tohoku Shinkansen, and demonstrate that they can support telework, such as being able to hold video conferences while moving. The experiment will be conducted within this year.

President Fukasawa of JR East said, "The speed of change due to the new corona has become faster and the needs have become stronger. I want to realize space freedom in combination with the power of communication."
