According to an Ipsos study to which Europe 1 had access, public officials draw a positive assessment of the two confinements and the teleworking discovered in a forced march.

Despite digital tools still not sufficiently adapted, a majority of them believe that working remotely allows them to save time.

It is a year apart that is coming to an end.

The Covid-19 has changed the lives of all French people, both personally and professionally.

Teleworking, for example, suddenly took hold of millions of people in March.

Many enjoyed the experience, others less.

Some have not even set foot in the office for nine months!

Even the public service, long behind, ended up taking the fold.

According to an Ipsos study to which Europe 1 had access, "half of public officials were required to work remotely during confinement".

This is a giant leap that has been made in a few months since, according to this study, before the Covid crisis, only 13% of civil servants used telework.

Nine months later, the results are generally positive.

Two thirds (67%) of public officials say they have experienced the second confinement from a professional point of view.

"Teleworking is synonymous with saving time for 68% of them, efficiency in personal work (67%) and even comfort (69%), figures comparable to those of private employees", specifies the Ipsos study.

An effort to be made on digital tools

It was not all easy, however.

One in two public officials (51%) believe that the government's digital tools are not suitable for teleworking.

"It is quite logical. We know that, in the field, many agents have had recourse, in an emergency and in a somewhat savage way, to software which was not necessarily professional software or which did not necessarily provide all the guarantees for the security of professional and personal data ", comments to Europe 1 Antoine Dubocsq, boss of Wimi, a company that supplies software for the public service.

According to him, "from next year, there will be great efforts to be made in terms of equipment to be up to the challenge".

And there will be a challenge since three-quarters of public officials (75%) say they want to be able to choose to telework when they want, 58% of which at least one day a week.

On this point, the government and its partners intend to push the subject of digital sovereignty.

Goodbye Zoom, Skype and Whatsapp, French public officials trust French software (71%) more than American (56%) and Chinese (41%) applications.
