Due to the impact of the new coronavirus, the supply and demand of rice will be greatly relaxed, and next year, the largest production cut will be required, so the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries plans to strengthen support for producers who convert rice for export. Approximately 340 billion yen is expected to be included in line with the initial budget for next year.

The supply and demand of rice is slackening due to the drop in demand for rice for eating out due to the influence of the new coronavirus, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries says that it is necessary to reduce production by 300,000 tons or more, which is the largest scale ever, next year. It shows a guideline to do.

For this reason, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries plans to strengthen support for producers who switch from main food to rice for export.

Specifically, if a new technology for cost reduction is introduced for producers who convert to crops with new demand such as wheat, soybeans, and vegetables in addition to rice for export, the subsidy will be provided. Increase the unit price to 40,000 yen per 10 ares.

In addition, if the prefecture provides its own support, the same amount will be added so that producers who plan to convert to feed rice can also earn sufficient income.

In addition, the policy is to establish a subsidy system for companies that develop facilities for manufacturing packed rice for export and storage facilities for wheat and soybeans.

It is expected that the supplementary budget for this year will include approximately 35 billion yen and the initial budget for next year will include 305 billion yen.
