“Nakheel” real estate companies and “Rio” for Spanish hotels and resorts inaugurated yesterday the “Rio Dubai” resort in Deira Islands, with a capacity of 800 rooms, with an investment cost of about 570 million dirhams (about $ 155 million).

On the occasion of the launch of the new resort, Nakheel stated that the total number of rooms in the hotel company's portfolio has reached 2,087 rooms within five facilities.

In detail, the "Rio Dubai" resort was inaugurated yesterday in Deira Islands, which is a joint venture between Nakheel Real Estate and Rio Hotels and Spanish Resorts.

The new project includes 800 rooms, adding a new dimension to the hospitality sector in Dubai, as it is the first four-star beach resort to offer a "all-inclusive" service around the clock in the emirate.

The "Rio Dubai" resort is considered the first joint venture of Nakheel in the hospitality sector, and the first attraction to be opened in the Deira Islands.

The resort, which is considered the first project for "Rio" in the Middle East, and holds number 100 in the "Rio" chain of hotels and resorts, includes a variety of restaurants and entertainment facilities, including 10 food and beverage outlets, a water park, as well as three swimming pools. And two children's pools, water activities, in addition to a fitness center, a beauty salon and a kids club.

Cost

Olivier Kloth, Senior Vice President for Sales and Business Development at Rio Company, said that the total cost of the new resort reached $ 155 million (about 570 million dirhams), explaining that Rio’s share of it is 40%, while Nakheel’s share is 60%.

He stressed that Dubai is a prominent global destination on the international tourism map, so the company chose to be in the emirate as its first project in the region as a whole, indicating that the company might consider new hotel projects in the UAE market during the coming period.

Kloth pointed to the high turnout to Dubai from international and local visitors, indicating that the new resort recorded occupancy levels of more than 60% this month.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nakheel, Muhammad Al-Shaibani, said that “(Nakheel) has a long and successful record in establishing and presenting a variety of tourism and entertainment projects, in line with government goals.”
