Going to chase pork?

"Xiang Qian Cong" and "Jiang You Army" are back!

In recent days, “the value of green onions has soared” and “the price of ginger has nearly doubled” have repeatedly appeared on the hot search. When the value of the auxiliary ingredients in the ingredients exceeds the main ingredients, some netizens can’t help but sigh, “In the past, the yellow braised chicken always regarded ginger pieces as Chicken is now more expensive than chicken, so eat and cherish."

"Xiang Qian Cong" "Jiang You Army" ushered in the "day of turning over"

How expensive is onion ginger now?

A reporter from Chinanews.com randomly visited many supermarkets and vegetable markets in Beijing.

"Now green onions are 6 yuan per catty, and ginger is 13 yuan." A vendor in a vegetable market in Fengtai District, Beijing, said, "The price has already risen." This is not the most expensive.

In a vegetable market in Xicheng District, Beijing, ginger sold for 15 yuan a catty.

"This year, the price of green onion and ginger is generally expensive." The owner of a vegetable stall in a vegetable market in Xicheng District said, "Ginger was still more than 8 yuan before'October'. When the holiday comes back, the purchase price has risen to more than ten yuan. The purchase price is so expensive. We can’t sell it cheaply.”

The price of green onion ginger sold in some large supermarkets is cheaper, and the price of fresh ginger is nearly half cheaper.

At Auchan Supermarket in Fengtai District, Beijing, the reporter noticed that green onions are priced at 4.98 yuan per catty, ginger is priced at 9.9 yuan per catty, and fresh ginger is 6.49 yuan per catty.

Because the price of fresh ginger is lower, the selling speed is obviously faster than that of old ginger.

The reporter saw at a supermarket at 20 o'clock on the 6th that fresh ginger had been sold out.

"If you want to buy fresh ginger, you can only wait for tomorrow." The staff member said.

At the Jiamei Supermarket near Beijing’s Xicheng District, green onions are 4.99 yuan per catty and ginger is 6.98 yuan per catty.

"This is fresh ginger, the price is naturally cheaper than old ginger, but the two are not much different." A resident told reporters while purchasing.

Even for e-commerce vegetable selling platforms that have been frantically engaged in a "price war" recently, the price of onion and ginger is not cheap.

In Meituan Shopping, the selection of ginger for 300 grams is about 7.8 yuan, and the green onions are about 450 grams for 4.99 yuan; the daily premium freshness is about 500 grams of Shandong green onions for about 4.9 yuan, and Changyi ginger is about 250 grams for 6.9 yuan.

Not only in Beijing, but also in Shandong and Henan, the main producing areas of onion and ginger, prices have doubled year-on-year.

“Ginger and spring onions are both expensive. Ginger sold for 5 yuan in the supermarket last year and 9.6 yuan this year; green onions sold for 80 yuan last year and 3 yuan this year.” Mr. Wang, who lives in Jiaozhou, Shandong, told reporters.

"Ginger was only 5 or 6 yuan last year, and this year it has risen to more than 10 yuan, and the price of green onions has also risen." said Ms. Zheng, who lives in Zhumadian, Henan.

In some non-main producing areas, according to media reports, the price of ginger has risen to more than 20 yuan per catty.

The prices of green onions and ginger have risen sharply, and some netizens started a joke, "XX: Which green onion do you count? Green onion: Finally, when I turn over, I am this 2 yuan green onion."

The price of onion is at a 4-year high, and the price of ginger is at a 6-year high

This year, onion and ginger have transformed into an ordinary "price-increasing genius".

But what many people don't understand is when did the price rise?

Take a look at the specific data:

"From November 27th to December 4th, the price of green onions was 5.56 yuan/kg, an increase of 15.6% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 141.9%." According to the monitoring of the National Agricultural Products Wholesale Market Price Information System of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the price of green onions since the beginning of September It has risen for 11 consecutive weeks, from 3.54 yuan/kg to 5.56 yuan/kg, an increase of 57%.

According to data from the China Vegetable Circulation Association, on November 11, the price of Changbai scallions in Zhangqiu, Shandong, the main producing area, was about 1.30 yuan per catty, a year-on-year increase of 160%.

The price of hard-core green onions in Xinye, another major green onion producing area, is around 1.45 yuan per catty, an increase of 0.8 yuan per catty compared to late August, an increase of 123.08%.

Let's take a look at the price of ginger.

"Since late September this year, the price of fine washed ginger has risen from less than 7 yuan per catty to nearly 11 yuan in early November. The average price of fine washed ginger in the same period last year was about 3.84 yuan per catty, a year-on-year increase of about 147.40%. China Vegetable Circulation Association pointed out.

"In November, the wholesale prices of green onions and ginger were 4.56 yuan and 14.08 yuan per kilogram, respectively, up 99.1% and 71.5% year-on-year." China Agricultural Information Network data shows.

"At present, the price of green onions has reached the highest level in the past 4 years, and the price of ginger has reached the highest level in the past 6 years." said Zhang Jing, chief analyst of the early warning team of vegetable market analysis and early warning team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and associate researcher of the Institute of Agricultural Information of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

The price has risen by more than 50% in more than two months. Why can't ginger onion go to heaven?

Except for "Gan You Ruthless" did not appear, how did "Xiang Qian Cong" and "Jiang Your Army" come together?

"The price increase of green onions is actually affected by the relationship between supply and demand." Chen Mingjun, executive vice president of the China Vegetable Circulation Association, told a reporter from Chinanews.com. "On the one hand, because of the poor returns in the past two years, the main producing areas have reduced the planting area. On the one hand, the production areas, especially the main production areas in Shandong, had heavy rains in July and August, with some waterlogging, and the green onions suffered some disasters."

"The situation of ginger is a bit special. In recent years, the planting area has been basically stable, and even slightly increased. However, in recent years, there have been some natural disasters that have caused poor harvests and affected total output." Chen Mingjun said.

“In 2019, the main producing areas in northern China were severely affected by typhoons and floods, and this year will also have certain adverse effects.” Zhang Jing also said that rainy weather often aggravated ginger blast, harming the underground rhizomes, roots, above-ground stems and leaves of ginger, resulting in ginger growth in the past two years. Yield is lower than in previous years.

"Because the production areas generally report that this year's supply of goods is insufficient, some buyers are worried about the shortage of futures sources, and the situation of obtaining goods is still positive. In some production areas around Shandong, the transaction ended early, and some merchants and brokers transferred to ginger. Procurement in Changyi, Anqiu, Shandong, and other places in the concentration area has also played a role in raising prices." An analyst from China Jiangwang pointed out that at the same time, due to the impact of the new crown epidemic, the world is in a public health crisis. Ginger has a unique health care effect. The increase in export demand early this year has also boosted prices.

Will the price of green onion ginger be reduced during the Spring Festival?

Green onion and ginger are indispensable ingredients for "frying and cooking". Seeing that the Spring Festival is approaching, can we still buy scallions in bundles and ginger in bags, and make dumplings and celebrate the New Year?

In Chen Mingjun's opinion, the price of ginger may decrease before the Spring Festival, but the magnitude will not be too great.

"New ginger from the northern planting area will be on the market in November this year, which will ease the tight supply situation. However, because the price of ginger is relatively good in recent years, especially this year, farmers are likely to be more motivated to expand planting." Chen Mingjun said, ginger One mu of land needs to consume about 1,000 kilograms of ginger seeds, which is equivalent to reducing part of the market supply.

"In addition, ginger can be stored for two to three years. Most ginger farmers have their own cellars and have higher psychological expectations for prices. If the price is too low, ginger farmers are unwilling to sell, and the inertia of reluctance to sell is still relatively large." Chen Mingjun pointed out .

Regarding the later price of green onions, Chen Mingjun said, "The supply and demand relationship of green onions is still tight before the Spring Festival, and the possibility of a sharp drop is unlikely."

"However, as the price of scallions has risen in recent months, Fujian and other regions may not have been planted yet. Seeing that the market is better, the planting may be expanded. Once the planting area of new planting areas is expanded, if there are no natural disasters, the relationship between supply and demand may be reversed after listing. , There will be an adjustment in the price after the Spring Festival." Chen Mingjun said.

"Generally, the supply of spring onions in autumn and winter rotates from north to south in the order of'Shandong-Jiangsu, Shanghai-Zhejiang-Fujian'. To ensure the supply, wholesalers usually buy out the spring onions in the field 1-2 months in advance. Buy out in October The price has risen more than 10,000 yuan, and Qidong, Jiangsu, Zhangpu, Fujian and other places have even doubled year-on-year, setting a new high in the past four years." Shen Chen, an analyst with the vegetable market analysis and early warning team of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said that the price of green onions is expected before the Spring Festival. The overall operation will remain at a high level, and the price of Shandong green onions may fall after the listing in June next year.

As for whether the price increase of onion and ginger will put pressure on prices, “you don’t need to worry too much.” Fu Yifu, director of the Consumer Finance Research Center of the Suning Institute of Financial Research, believes that although the price of onion and ginger has increased rapidly recently, its share in the CPI is very large. Limited, it will hardly have much impact on the overall CPI index.

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on the 9th, the CPI in November fell 0.5% year-on-year, and it was negative again after 11 years. The fall in pork prices played an important role.

Liu Xuezhi, a senior researcher at the Financial Research Center of the Bank of Communications, believes that the price of pork enters a downward channel and the CPI will stay low for a period of time.
