A survey reveals how the Coronavirus has changed the lifestyle of consumers in the UAE

Results of a new survey conducted by Taqeef and Media showed that 60% of the UAE population expanded their comfort zone while doing things they were not comfortable with before the Corona pandemic.

Looking at the impact of the pandemic on consumer behavior related to comfort and lifestyle, 67% of respondents to the survey, which included 1,000 participants between the ages of 18 and 40, said that the pandemic had pushed them out of their ordinary.

As a result, most respondents became more aware of features such as cost (77%), environment (79%) and health (82%).

When asked what “absolute comfort” means, the majority of respondents chose to use the Internet as a source of information (62%), spend time with friends and family (60%), relax and enjoy weekends (60%), and same day delivery service for online purchases (41%). Reducing the noise of household appliances such as washing machines, dishes and air conditioners (41%), and making use of smart technology in home appliances (40%).

More than half of the respondents (58%) agreed that smart technology in home appliances such as smart sensors, virtual assistants in TV and air conditioners, has turned from being a mere accessory a few years ago to a major advantage.

In fact, 41% of respondents raised their focus on technology and home appliances this year.

On the other hand, 68% of respondents were interested in the sustainability rating mentioned on the energy efficiency label when purchasing devices, which is a standard regulatory protocol by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (SMAE) for all household appliances.

Meanwhile, the survey showed that nearly half (47%) increased AC use at home.
