A young Egyptian man makes a fortune catching scorpions and extracting their toxins

A few years ago ... a young Egyptian gave up his degree in archeology in order to hunt scorpions in the deserts and beaches of the country and extract their venom for use in therapeutic purposes.

Muhammad Hamdi Bishta, at the age of 25, became the owner of the Cairo Phenom Company for Bio-Extracts and Poisons, a project that includes 80,000 scorpions in several farms across Egypt and a number of snakes that he also keeps in order to extract their venom.

He said, "I am Mohamed Hamdy from Menoufia Governorate, talking about a project to extract toxins from scorpions and snakes. It is carried out during the hunting process from deserts and coasts in Egypt. We fish scorpions and collect them through the farms that we have in Egypt and we contain more than 80 thousand scorpions in a group of existing farms." In Egypt, in more than one place far from the population. We extract toxins so that they have very great benefits in entering into the manufacture of vaccines in the case of bites that different people are exposed to. We estimate that we use the vaccine as the first product of using toxins. "

UV rays are used to catch scorpions, which are exposed to a slight electric current to stimulate the secretion of venom.

A single gram of toxin can produce between 20,000 doses and 50,000 doses of antivenoms.

He said, "By exposing the scorpion to an electrical rate of 12 volts 5 amperes, this is of course merely electrical stimulation for the scorpion to complete the process of extracting the toxin by the method, by degrading the positive and negative on one of the vertebrae or between the second or third paragraph and the third, the nerve centers of the scorpion. Of course, we present a very simple section in order to preserve the purity of the poison, so that a drop of the poison is released. "

The price of a gram of scorpion venom may reach ten thousand dollars.

Bishta added, "By interfering with medicines, more than 24 medicinal products are manufactured from scorpion venom all over the world. We export toxins to various European countries and the United States (Virginia, Texas and California), and we export to Belgium, Denmark, Germany and France. Of course, a gram of poison brings its price to more than 10. The average prices are thousands of dollars, and the price varies from one type to the other.

And included in the manufacture of a number of other medicines, including drugs that treat diseases such as high blood pressure.
