“Now is the time for Germany and the EU to impose a moratorium on pipeline construction,” Acting US Ambassador to Germany Robin Quinville told Handelsblatt newspaper.
According to her, this would be a signal that Europe will no longer put up with "Russia's malicious behavior."
She added that the project is a “political instrument”.
Earlier it became known that, according to the German authorities, the Fortuna barge will lay the pipes within the framework of the German section of the Nord Stream 2 underwater gas pipeline.
