Nearly 80% of tax households have benefited from the abolition of the housing tax in 2020 for an average gain of 590 euros, Bercy announced on Friday.

"This strong measure in favor of purchasing power is part of the massive reduction in taxes, which we have undertaken since 2017 and which we are continuing without slowing down, despite the current crisis", declared on this occasion the Minister Delegate in charge of Public accounts Olivier Dussopt.

Nearly 22.4 million households affected

He recalled that the phased elimination of this tax will continue from 2021 for the 20% of the wealthiest households, and will be completed in 2023. This year, the abolition of the housing tax concerned 22.4 million. tax homes.

The average gain sometimes varies a lot from one department to another, including within the same region: in Ile-de-France, it is 735 euros in Essonne and only 417 euros in Paris.

In Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (Paca), it is 714 euros in Bouches-du-Rhône and 460 euros in Hautes-Alpes.
