To fight against youth unemployment, hit hard by the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus, the government launched the "One young person, one solution" plan to facilitate hiring.

A necessary device which is starting to bear fruit, according to Thibault Guilluy, High Commissioner for Employment and Business Engagement.

INTERVIEW

"It's hard to be young in 2020".

These were the words of Emmanuel Macron last October, when the curfew was announced.

Deprived of social relations, like the rest of the population, young people also experience great difficulties in the labor market.

The unemployment rate for 18-25 year olds is 21% and the poverty rate concerns one in four young people.

"In each crisis, young people are the first to pay the price of the crisis because recruitments are falling," notes Thibault Guilluy, High Commissioner for Employment and Business Engagement, guest of Europe 1 on Saturday evening.

20,000 student jobs created

To fight against this phenomenon, the government announced the creation of 20,000 student jobs, the strengthening of the youth guarantee and financial assistance of up to 500 euros per month for young graduates, without resources and looking for a job. .

After launching the "One young person, one solution" plan in July, with hiring assistance, the government also launched a digital platform.

"Leave no young people on the side of the road"

"The idea is not to leave any young person on the side of the road. We have put in place very concrete aid to all companies so that each employer can create jobs and be supported," continues Thibault Guilluy.

According to him, the device brings results: "923,000 recruitments took place in August, September and October. Finally, we manage to maintain the level of employment since last year".

A platform reserved for people under 30

The 1jeune1solution.gouv.fr platform must bring together all the job offers.

"This is not competition at Pole Emploi," insists Thibault Guilluy.

The offers are reserved for young people, by employers who are specifically looking for employees under the age of 30.

Civic services, training and recruitment events are also referenced.

"Invest in young people"

"We have on the recency platform more than 200 companies that have already signed up. A few thousand are joining us. This national mobilization is essential. We say to employers' invest in young people, give them the opportunity to join your business! ”, hammered Thibault Guilluy.
