Dubai Economy issues 32.1 thousand new licenses in 10 months

The Business Movement Report, issued by the Commercial Registration and Licensing Sector in the Dubai Economy, showed that the total number of new licenses issued during the first 10 months of this year reached 32,158 licenses, an increase of 6%, compared to the same period of last year.

The report indicated that the new licenses, during the period between (January and October 2020), were divided into several activities, foremost among which were professional activities at a rate of 57%, followed by commercial activities at 42%, then tourism and industrial activities by 1%.

The Dubai Economy stated, in a statement yesterday, that the numbers registered on the Dubai Business Map (www.dubaibusinessmap.ae), the digital platform of the registration sector, reflect the extent of efforts made by the department to provide value-added services to customers, in order to facilitate doing business and commercial activities.

Major areas

The report sheds light on the distribution of licenses according to the main regions in the Emirate of Dubai, where the largest share was for the Bur Dubai region with a total of 16 thousand and 199 licenses, then the Deira region with a total of 15 thousand and 908 licenses, and the Hatta region with 51 new commercial licenses.

As for the distribution of the new licenses according to the top 10 sub-regions, they were as follows: Burj Khalifa, Al Garhoud, Al Fahidi, Oud Al Muteena 3, Port Said, Trade Center 1, Oud Metha, Al Khabisi, Al Nahda 1, and Umm Ramool.

The report indicated that during the first 10 months of this year, those who possess new licenses amount to 102 thousand and 72 people, of whom businessmen constitute about 89%, then businesswomen by 9%, and the rest of the percentages for companies and groups.

Legal form

As for the legal form of the new licenses that were issued, individual establishments accounted for about 38% of the total, while limited liability companies accounted for 32%, followed by civil works with 26%.

The rest of the list of legal forms included each of the limited liability company - one person, a branch of a company based in another emirate, a branch of a company / establishment based in a free zone, a branch of a foreign company, a branch of a Gulf company, a private joint stock company, a cooperative society, a joint stock company. Public, institution, petty recommendation, government liaison office, and international organization.

Economic activities

The most prominent economic activities for the new licenses, during the first 10 months of 2020, were as follows: project management services, paints and paints, floor and wall tiling works, carpentry and flooring works, building and housing cleaning services, plaster works, plumbing and sanitary installations, installation of systems HVAC, air purification and maintenance, wallpaper installation, suspended ceilings and light partitions installation.
