Strengthen identity verification for docomo accounts To introduce a mechanism for utilizing short mail November 16, 18:53

NTT DoCoMo has strengthened identity verification regarding the electronic payment service "DoCoMo Account", which has been fraudulently withdrawn from deposits and savings, and will introduce a new mechanism using short mail from this month 26th.

With regard to "docomo accounts," 128 cases of illegal withdrawal of deposits and savings from Japan Post Bank and regional banks have been confirmed so far, and the amount of damage has reached 28.85 million yen.

In response to this, NTT DoCoMo will strengthen identity verification for users of DoCoMo accounts from the 26th of this month.

Specifically, when a person who has a contract with a mobile phone company other than DoCoMo opens a new DoCoMo account, he / she is required to enter the PIN code to be sent by short mail to the user's mobile phone.

It also means that people who have already used a docomo account will be asked to enter the PIN code to be sent by short mail to the user's mobile phone, and if it is not entered, it will not be available.

Currently, in DoCoMo accounts,

▽ all 35 affiliated banks have stopped new links with bank accounts, and

▽ 29

banks have

also stopped depositing to docomo accounts, and

NTT DoCoMo

has stopped

these. I would like to decide when to resume while checking the measures taken by the bank.
