Not surprisingly, the number of job seekers soared in the third quarter of 2020. The unemployment rate jumped 1.9 points in the third quarter of 2020 to stand at 9% of the working population in France, according to figures from INSEE.

Contrary to the trend and despite the health crisis, some sectors continue to hire massively.

The construction industry continues to hire

Construction, for example, is in good shape, driven by energy renovation work supported by the government in its recovery plan.

The activity was therefore rather boosted by the crisis with in particular the new version of Ma Prime Rénov.

"The big difference is that today 100% of French people are entitled to support if they undertake work. There is a real incentive for individuals to take action and this is reflected in the order book. This explains why we are recruiting ", Edouard Barthès, boss of EBS Isolation.

The company plans to increase its workforce by 20 to 25% in 2021.

More and more online offers with containment

Among the sectors needing personnel in the midst of a health crisis, there is of course health and personal services.

There are also IT services, which are developing further thanks to click and collect and the rise of digital technology among retailers.

Some companies in difficulty are also hiring with the aim of better managing the crisis.

"You have sectors that are recruiting at the moment such as accounting, management and finance, to optimize the cash flow of companies", explains David Beaurepaire deputy director of Hellowork.

According to him, the increase in the number of job offers is also explained by the fact that companies are increasingly using these sites to popularize their offers, especially during a period of confinement.
