The company "Pfizer" clarifies to "Emirates Today" the details of transportation and distribution of the Corona vaccine

The American pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, said that it had developed detailed logistical plans and tools to support the effective transportation and storage of the vaccine and continuous temperature monitoring, noting that the distribution would be based on a flexible system (in time), which would ship the frozen vials directly to the vaccination point.

The company stated to "Emirates Today" that it has developed innovations in packaging and storage to be suitable for the purpose in a group of sites where it believes that vaccinations will be carried out, adding: "We have specially designed transport containers whose temperature is controlled using dry ice (dioxide). Carbon steel) to maintain the recommended storage conditions - minus 70 ° C (± 10 °) for up to 10 days.

The company indicated that it will work and coordinate with strategic transport partners to ship the vaccine by air to the main hubs within the country or region and by road transport to the dose sites.

She added that it will use thermal sensors that support the global positioning system (GPS) in every shipment with a control mechanism that tracks the location and temperature of each vaccine shipment through pre-set paths, noting that these devices that support the global positioning system will allow the company to prevent unwanted deviations in a form. Be proactive and act before they happen.

And once the vaccine is received at the final points of use, she said, there will be 3 options, either storing them in ultra-low temperature devices or coolers, which are currently commercially available, and can extend the shelf life of up to 6 months.

It stated that the vaccine can also be stored for five days at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius using the very common refrigeration units in hospitals, or use the company's thermal transfer containers (carrying the same doses) as temporary storage units by refilling them with dry ice for a period of up to 15 Days of storage.

The two companies, "Pfizer" and "Biontech", announced, at the beginning of this week, Monday that their experimental vaccine to prevent the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) is effective in protecting against the virus by more than 90%.
