Spain will request a PCR test from all travelers arriving from risk areas.

This is what Salvador Illa has communicated to the autonomous communities in the Interterritorial Council on Foreign Health this Wednesday.

This is something that the tourism sector has been demanding for months.

Other countries, such as Italy or Greece, for example, do request PCR tests from travelers arriving from abroad.

This change occurs at a time when many countries are confined and their citizens, therefore, cannot travel for vacations, although they can for other reasons (residence, work, studies ...).

This is the case of the United Kingdom, Germany and France, our main source markets for tourists.

The tourism sector has been asking the Government for months to approve the performance of tests at airports,

both at origin and destination, to people who come to Spain.

Today the president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, has claimed it.

Currently, tourists arriving in our country have to fill out a form with their contact information (address, flight and seat number ...) as well as sign a statement in which they assure that they do not have symptoms or have been in contact with any person infected in the last two weeks.

At aerodromes there are also cameras to detect passengers with fever.

Ayuso has always defended that the Madrid-Barajas airport, which is the air gateway to Spain, was "a strainer" of contagions

because the measures were insufficient.
