Several people were injured in a bombing on Wednesday at the non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, a city in western Saudi Arabia, during a ceremony commemorating the armistice of November 11, 1918, announced the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is the second attack targeting French interests in Jeddah after that of October 29 against

a security guard of the French consulate

, against the backdrop of a series of jihadist attacks in France but also in Vienna on November 2, partly linked to the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad.

The annual ceremony commemorating the end of World War I at the non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, involving several consulates general

[of other countries] 

including the French consulate, was the target of an explosive device attack this morning , which caused several injuries,

 ”said the Quai d'Orsay, without further details on the identity and nationality of the victims.

France strongly condemns this cowardly attack that nothing can justify

 ", added French diplomacy, calling on the Saudi authorities " 

to shed light

 " on this act and " 

identify and prosecute the perpetrators

 ".

Several countries, including France and Belgium, celebrate Wednesday the 102 anniversary of the armistice concluded between Germany and the Allies, which marked the end of the First World War.
