The Spanish Stock Market soars on the first day of trading after hearing the final victory of

Joe Biden

in the White House elections and the news that indicates great progress in the vaccine against Covid.

The Ibex, an index that brings together the main listed companies in the country, rises 9% at 1:30 pm amid widespread euphoria in European markets.

The climate of optimism for Biden's victory has been joined by the first conclusions announced by the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in the race to obtain a vaccine against the coronavirus.

The group claims that its research is 90% effective.

Medical advances have particularly benefited the tourism sector with the expectation of a much faster-than-anticipated travel recovery.

Groups such as

Amadeus, IAG, Meliá or Aena

registered revaluations of more than 20% at 1:30 pm.

For its part, the financial sector - also heavily burdened by the crisis - has joined the stock market party with rises close to 10%.

PharmaMar

takes the worst of it, falling more than 10% as it lost positions in the race for the discovery of the vaccine.

The markets had prolonged their optimistic streak at their opening after the confirmation of Joe Biden's victory in the US.

By mid-morning, the Ibex obtained an improvement of 2% and expected the opening of Wall Street as a shock.

However, that momentum has been anticipated when Pfizer announced that the studies conducted on phase 3 of its vaccine are working.
