The Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics revealed that the UAE's daily production of crude oil during the year 2019 amounted to three million and 58 thousand barrels, compared to three million and 7,000 barrels per day, an increase of 51 thousand barrels, so that the UAE ranked third in the Arab world in oil production at the end of 2019.

The center added in the "Oil and Gas 2019" report, issued yesterday, that the UAE's crude oil exports reached two million and 414 barrels per day during the year 2019, compared to two million and 297 thousand barrels per day during 2018, an increase of 117 thousand barrels per day, and a growth rate of 5.1%. While the reserves of crude oil reached 97 billion and 800 million barrels at the end of 2019.

Refineries

The report indicated that the design capacity of oil refineries in the country increased to one million and 127 thousand barrels per day during the period from 2015 to 2019, compared to 710 thousand barrels per day in 2013 and 2014, and 690 thousand barrels per day during the period from 2010 to 2012, This is mainly due to the increase in the refining capacity of the "Ruwais Refinery" to doubling, as its capacity increased from 400 thousand to 817 thousand barrels per day, while the refining capacity in the "Jebel Ali Refinery" reached 140 thousand barrels per day, and reached each of Abu Dhabi ( The former Umm Al Nar refinery), and Fujairah 85 thousand barrels per day each.

Crude oil exports

The report showed that the proportion of crude oil exports out of total production declined to about 79% in 2019, after it was about 84% of total production in 2015, something the report described as a positive trend in the country, represented in increasing domestic production of products. Refined oil, and reducing the import of these products to meet the demand for them in the local market, which raises the added value in this regard.

Self-sufficiency

According to the report, the UAE ranked fourth in the world and second in the Arab world in the Global Competitiveness Report for the year 2019 in the “Energy Self-Sufficiency Index”, explaining that this index is one of the most important indicators that measure the ability of countries to provide their energy needs from their own sources.

Refined petroleum products

With regard to refined oil and gas products, kerosene and jet fuel accounted for the highest production of refined petroleum products in 2019, by 11 million and 829 thousand metric tons, followed by "diesel" by about 11 million and 343 thousand metric tons, then "Naphtha" »Which is one of the intermediate oil products with a total of 11 million 291 thousand metric tons.

"Naphtha" acquired the highest exports from national companies, with a total of 10 million and 706 thousand metric tons, then diesel with a total of nine million and 753 thousand metric tons, followed by "kerosene" and aviation fuel with a total of eight million and 50 thousand metric tons.

With regard to imports, "gasoline" came first with a total of 9 million 561 thousand metric tons, followed by aviation fuel with a total of one million and 659 thousand metric tons.

Car gasoline topped the list of national companies ’sales of petroleum products in 2019, reaching eight million and 138 thousand metric tons, followed by jet fuel and kerosene with a total of seven million and 173 metric tons, and then“ diesel ”with a total of two million and 915 thousand metric tons.

Natural gas

The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center data revealed that the UAE's production of natural gas, marketed during 2019, amounted to about 55 billion standard cubic meters, an increase of about 15% over 2018, and a share of 9% of the gas production of Arab countries, which puts the UAE Within the major natural gas producing countries.

The data showed that the consumption of natural gas in the country increased significantly in the last 10 years, as the average daily available consumption of natural gas reached about 186 million standard cubic meters, as it is used in the production of electricity, in many heavy industries, and for residential use. Its use in recent years as a safe fuel in cars, to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide harmful to the environment, as natural gas is an environmentally friendly energy source, in order to keep pace with the achievement of the state's plans towards sustainable cities and environment free of pollution.
