What have we not read about this vehicle which will be released in early 2021?

It must be said that Mustang is an institution, here as in the United States, its mother country.

Symbol of V8 and propulsion, the icon takes the path of electricity.

The general line is massive even if its dimensions remain reasonable at 4.71 meters long.

Design level, the Mustang codes are there with stretched LED lights at the front and, above all, the 3 light lines on each side at the rear.

Seen in profile, the Mach-E reminds us that it is indeed part of the Mustang family.

On the other hand, inside, it's the revolution!

Most confusing for wild horse aficionados?

Without a doubt the huge 15.5 inch screen in vertical position!

With its new generation SYNC technology, this system offers twice the computing power of the previous version.

It also uses machine learning to retain driver preferences.

The latter will have the choice between 3 driving modes with specific modulation of controls, ambient lighting, sounds and animations on the dashboard.

Also amusing, the presence of a sort of "digicode" on the door pillar to open the car if you forget your keys or your smartphone (which also serves as a key).

Promising handling

In terms of habitability, with a wheelbase of nearly 3 meters (normal without heat engine), it is a large living room.

For the trunk or rather the boxes, there is volume.

At the rear, it's average (402 liters) because of the batteries, but also count on the front trunk.

This one offers 100 liters and, like the Puma, it is waterproof and washable with water since it has a drainage hole.

Upon its release in early 2021, the Ford Mustang Mach-E will be available in several battery and transmission versions (rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive).

From 75.7 kWh (258 hp) for 450 km to 98.8 kWh (285 hp) and 600 km of range.

In our (very short) first-run test, we couldn't verify all of this data.

We will of course examine this as soon as the health situation improves.

What about handling?

Here again, it's impossible to judge, but the basics are good since the chassis has been adapted for our European roads by Ford's European development center, located in Belgium, a center of excellence mainly dedicated to road handling.

As for the silent operation, the first quality of electric cars, no need to dwell here on what looks like a real flying carpet!

One last info: a GT version (465 hp) will appear at the end of 2021. Will this be enough to silence the critics of those who think that a Mustang can only be "thermal"?

No doubt not, but for us, like Porsche and its Taycan, the future of the automobile, including sports, will depend on these new solutions.
