Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Passenger Airliner Engine Parts Factory Completed Nagasaki November 4, 19:51

A commemorative ceremony was held on the 4th after the completion of a parts factory for passenger aircraft engines that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was constructing in Nagasaki City.

The company says that demand for parts manufactured at this plant has returned and is not affected by the drop in aviation-related demand due to the new coronavirus.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries completed a parts factory for passenger aircraft engines, which was under construction on the premises of a shipyard in Nagasaki City, and held a commemorative ceremony on the 4th, inviting Governor Nakamura of Nagasaki Prefecture and others.

The plant manufactures parts called "combustors" that mix air and fuel for use on short- and medium-range passenger aircraft and ship them to American engine manufacturers.

As of August last year when the construction plan for this factory was announced, the company explained that it was "an initiative in anticipation of strong demand for aircraft engines," but after that, due to the influence of the new coronavirus, it was related to aviation. Demand is declining globally.

The business environment has changed completely since the construction of the factory began, but Katsuyuki Shimauchi, president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air Engine, said, "Demand for engines equipped with parts made at this factory is returning, and the impact of the new coronavirus is It can be said that there is no such thing. The challenge is to establish a stable production system as soon as possible. "
