In video: People of determination design and develop fenders for Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has received aircraft wheel bumpers designed and developed by the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination.
The bumpers bore the "bee logo", a trademark of products for people of determination.
Wheel fenders, which are pegs made of rubber, are essential to flight operations as they help keep aircraft and personnel safe while on the runways and airport yards.
Each plane needs approximately six bumpers, placed adjacent to the wheels, to hold the plane to a halt and prevent its movement.
The Federation received, in principle, two bumpers for the wheels to assess and ensure compliance with safety regulations and the required measurements;
The evaluation concluded with great success and endorsement by the technical team of the airline.
At the end of the year, Etihad Airways is scheduled to receive 50 bumpers for everyday use from the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination.
