Olympic and Paralympic Commemorative Coins Redeem from 4th November 3rd 10:43

The Ministry of Finance will begin redeeming commemorative coins for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, which had been postponed due to the effects of the new coronavirus, at financial institutions nationwide from the 4th.

There are a total of 37 types of commemorative coins for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, of which 28 have already been issued.



The remaining nine types of redemption were scheduled to begin around July, but were postponed to avoid crowding the counters due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.



The Ministry of Finance has requested the financial institutions that serve as the contact point to take measures to prevent infection, and will start redeeming at financial institutions nationwide from the 4th.



The commemorative coins that will be redeemed this time are


▽ two types of 500-yen coins designed with the national treasure "Fujin Raijin Zuhoufu",


▽ players of five competitions such as soccer, tennis, and wheelchair rugby, and the mascot of the tournament. It is 7 kinds of 100 yen coins.



It means that we have about 4 million sheets each.



In addition, applications for special sets of all 37 types of commemorative coins will be accepted at the Mint until the 10th of this month.
