Dubai Customs has culminated in its successive achievements in the field of excellence in project management and development, by winning the award of "Best Entity for Project Management in the World for 2020" in the international competition organized by the Global Project Management Alliance. With this achievement, the department ranked first in the world among government agencies and distinguished private companies in Developing and managing new projects from all over the world, in a new international certificate that shows the extent of progress that Dubai Customs has made, in implementing best international practices in the field of project management at the international level.

The number of projects developed by the department from 2007 to 2019 amounted to about 125 customs projects, at a cost of 350 million dirhams, that contributed to achieving the department's main objectives in the two axes of protecting society and facilitating trade and passenger movement.

Dubai Customs was announced as winning this award at the annual ceremony of the Global Project Management Alliance Forum, based in Brazil, which aims to develop project management practices globally, and has 10,000 members representing 110 countries.

The Executive Director of the Customs Development Sector, Jumah Al-Ghaith, said that Dubai Customs, through its digital transformation strategy, is establishing its future projects using the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, pointing out that these projects aim to facilitate operations and automate Customs procedures, reduce costs for dealers, and document the complementary relationship with partners, in order to support their investments and achieve their happiness.

He added: “Dubai Customs implements, through the Customs Development Sector, several projects in the areas of facilitating trade, passenger movement, community protection, customs compliance and institutional excellence.

Thanks to the effective capabilities, these projects have achieved savings in operating costs for customers worth 898 million dirhams, new revenues for the department of 384 million dirhams, and savings in the operational costs of Dubai Customs of 561 million dirhams.

These projects also contributed to the digital transformation of Dubai Customs services by 100%, and achieving customer happiness for electronic services by 98%, which puts it at the forefront of government agencies in terms of customer happiness over electronic services. ”He pointed to the“ Mersal ”system, which is one of the best customs systems in the world. .
