  • Two young Alsatian entrepreneurs, childhood friends, have launched a textile brand, Sobo.

  • The duo are keen to offer eco-responsible products.

After polo shirts and t-shirts last year, jeans were created.

With an approach that is as local as possible for “80% Alsatian, 100% French jeans”.

  • Of all the production stages, only one is carried out outside Alsace: design, in workshops near Lyon.

A stylized little stork.

For a brand that claims to be Alsatian, it could almost be that.

"The logo is not on the current photos of the jeans but it will be there on delivery", laughs Sofiane Rahmani.

It is he who launched in July 2019 "Sobo", "the diminutive of my first name with the organic side.

It's short and easy to remember, ”explains this trained graphic designer,“ passionate about fashion ”.

He was joined by a childhood friend, Kavi Satch.

“We knew each other in college,” says the former salesperson.

“I intended to create clothes but I had a real awareness of our way of consuming.

"

The duo wanted to create the most eco-responsible products possible.

"Last year, we sold polo shirts and t-shirts 100% vegetable, with organic cotton", continues the co-founder before admitting: "We sold them moderately ... But it allowed us to take a step back and find a new project.

"

It leads to "80% Alsatian, 100% French jeans".

“We would have liked everything to be done in our region, but it was not possible because there is no jeans workshop here.

It is near Lyon, ”explains the 33-year-old mother.

"But we can say that all the production sites are held in 4 hours of stork flight", or nearly 500 km between the design office of Illkirch-Graffenstaden, near Strasbourg, and the production site, Decines -Charpieu.

Between these two stages, the fabric is woven and processed in Saint-Amarin, in the Haut-Rhin.

“We, unlike most brands, don't just use cotton,” explains Sofiane Rahmani.

Already, it is organic, but there is also an artificial and 100% biodegradable fiber, lyocell.

All this gives more color, elasticity, comfort finally.

And the dyeing is carried out with dyes much more respectful of the environment.

"

"It's responsible jeans"

It is precisely on this argument that the duo insists: “Compared to jeans that can travel up to 65,000 km before reaching your home, ours is much less polluting.

They're responsible jeans.

»Has only one shade for the moment, a mat blue.

"We'll see for other colors later, depending on sales," predict the entrepreneurs, who launched their pre-order campaign at the start of the week on the participatory platform Ulule.

This Wednesday noon, she had reached 119% of her goal, or 119 products purchased.

"We hope to sell 200, 300, 500," says Sofiane Rahmani, who refutes the idea of expensive jeans.

“We launched it at 89 euros and afterwards, it will be available online and in certain stores in France at 129 euros.

For made in France, we are in the average prices.

The first arrivals of small storks are expected in November.
