To secure stable ammonia that does not emit CO2 as fuel for thermal power plants October 28, 5:11

Ammonia, which has the property of burning but does not generate carbon dioxide, will be used as a part of fuel for thermal power plants, and the national government and the private sector will cooperate to secure it in a stable manner.

Ammonia has the characteristic of burning but does not generate carbon dioxide, and it is said that if it is mixed with coal and used as fuel for thermal power plants, it will emit less carbon dioxide than coal.

However, domestic production is low, and stable securing from overseas production areas such as Australia, North America, and the Middle East is an issue, so the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has more than 10 private companies and organizations such as electric power companies and trading companies. And set up a new council.

At the first meeting on the 27th, if 20% of the fuel of domestic coal-fired power plants is replaced with ammonia, about 500,000 tons of ammonia will be required per power plant per year, with the cooperation of the public and private sectors. I confirmed the policy to secure it.

In the future, the council will consider specific sources of procurement and discuss transportation routes to various parts of the country.
