  • The Covid-19 health crisis has affected many sectors of the French economy.

presents companies and craftsmen who, despite the confinement and the difficulties linked to the epidemic, have seen their activity grow or even explode.

In the Orsteel light workshops, for a few weeks now, machine tools have regained their original function.

A few months ago, this Contes company, near Nice, dropped high-end lighting, whose orders had fallen by 50% in March, and by 70% in April, to produce protections in plexiglass.

A choice to “survive” the Covid-19 crisis.

The

gel dispensers also alcoholic

“We planned to manufacture 1,000 of these portable hygienes for pharmacies.

In the end, we released 10,000 units for different types of businesses, including very large surfaces.

And, in addition, we have also manufactured hydroalcoholic gel dispensers ”, summarizes Adrien Sfecci, the boss of this company.

“This has enabled us to keep the same turnover, not to put anyone on short-time work and even to hire three people,” adds the manager of this family business which now has a workforce of 23 employees.

There was no margin, but it made it possible to pay the rent and be able to pay everyone.

And, on a human level, everyone was more peaceful, I think.

Not in the fear of wondering if the business was going to have to close.

"" Producing in France "is capital"

In a few hours, the company had succeeded in modifying an entire part of its factory and launching a dedicated website: protectionpourtous.com.

And this "lightning change of the economic model" of Orsteel light has above all enabled company managers to learn to adapt and become more efficient, they say.

"The crisis has made us evolve much faster than expected," continues the 35-year-old leader.

Today, we are growing.

We know how to find our customers directly, favor short circuits.

We really realized that "producing in France" was essential.
