Eating out chain September sales down 14% year-on-year Corona continues to decline October 26, 15:39

Last month's sales of major restaurant chains across the country continued to fall sharply, falling 14% below the same month last year due to the impact of the new coronavirus.

According to the Japan Food Service Association, the rate of decrease was 2 points smaller than in August, when it fell 16% last month, but the effects of the new coronavirus are still continuing.

By type of business, "pubs and pubs" decreased by 48.9% compared to the same month of the previous year, and "family restaurants" decreased by 19.7%, continuing to be in a difficult situation.

“Fast food,” which is increasingly used for take-out and home delivery, is still down 4.5%.

According to the Japan Food Service Association, sales of some family restaurants such as yakiniku and Japanese food recovered to the same level as the previous year during the four consecutive holidays in the latter half of September.

However, companies continue to work from home and refrain from banquets, and izakaya in downtown areas and business areas are in a difficult situation, saying that "recovery varies depending on location and business type."
