By December, around sixty people will be recruited and assigned to the various entry points from Great Britain to the territory of Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

The border police services (PAF) are thus anticipating the increase in controls inherent in Brexit, England's exit from the European Union.

But they will not be police officers and their presence will not be permanent.

Our British friends have decided not to be part of Europe anymore.

However, nothing prevents them from visiting us from time to time, the only thing that should change will be administrative.

Indeed, the English wishing to stay in France will have to obtain a residence permit, compulsory from October 2021.

Small hands needed before automation

The Paraphe border crossing system does not currently allow automatic calculation of the length of stay of foreigners.

This should be resolved in early 2022 with the implementation of the Entry-Exit System (ESS).

In the meantime, the workload of border police will increase significantly.

Suddenly, the workforce in place will be reinforced by around sixty contractual workers who will be hired on a fixed-term contract until January 2022. No need to be a police officer to apply, you just need to know how to speak English, to present well and to do proof of "coolness" as specified in particular in the job description.

Successful candidates will benefit from training, for example to detect false documents.

They will then be assigned to the ports of Calais or Dunkirk, to the Eurotunnel terminal or to the British ports of Dover and Cheriton.

On the other hand, the salary conditions were not specified.

If you feel like it, you have until October 30 to apply.
