Mitsubishi Chemical HD Announcement of personnel for the first time to invite top foreign management from outside the company October 23, 22:16

For the first time, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings, Japan's largest chemical manufacturer, has announced the appointment of foreign top management from outside the company.

As the business environment becomes severe due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, we aim to accelerate business reforms from a global perspective.

At the board of directors meeting on the 23rd, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings decided on a personnel case in which President Hitoshi Ochi will retire on April 1, next year, and Mr. John Mark Gilson will be invited as the new president from outside the company.

Gilson is 56 years old.

Originally from Belgium, he has served as business manager and top management at a Western chemical manufacturer, and is currently the CEO of a chemical manufacturer headquartered in France.

At Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings, sales of plastics and resins for automobiles are declining due to the spread of infection, and recovery of business performance is an issue.

This is the first time that a foreigner has served as the top management of this company, and the aim is to accelerate business reforms from a global perspective.

"Society is in a period of change due to the new virus, etc., and we would like to work together with our employees to reform in order to respond to rapid changes," Gilson said at a press conference on the 23rd.
