The areas where the biometric equipment was installed were clearly marked.

Additional units will be installed at all contact points in the future.

The "smart tunnel", which was developed by the General Administration of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, in cooperation with Emirates Airlines, is the world's first passport control system, based on the simple passage of travelers through a tunnel, where their identity and the authenticity of their papers are automatically verified by the immigration authorities. Without human intervention or the need to stamp their passports.

Emirates Airlines also became the first airline outside the United States to obtain approval from the US Department of Customs and Border Protection to allow its passengers to board aircraft according to the biometric system.
