[Poverty alleviation story] Guangxi Liujiang 100 mu of chrysanthemum paved Zhifu Road with output value of 20,000 yuan
[Explanation] More than 100 acres of golden chrysanthemum in Dingshan Village, Tubo Town, Liujiang District, Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province is about to mature, and the buds of chrysanthemums waiting to bloom will be golden on the field.
After maturity, the picked chrysanthemums undergo multiple processes such as selection, placement, and drying. The estimated output value of chrysanthemums per acre can reach 20,000 yuan. The highly ornamental chrysanthemums have turned into "golden flowers" that increase the income of local people.
[Explanation] A few days ago, local villagers in Dingshan Village shuttled through the chrysanthemum field for daily care such as weed removal.
Wei Haizhou, a poor householder, is one of the workers responsible for the maintenance of chrysanthemums in the flower field. She fell into poverty because of her husband’s disability and the lack of labor in the family.
In 2017, he joined the local chrysanthemum planting cooperative, which improved economic conditions.
Currently, Wei Haizhou's family has entered the ranks of pre-poverty alleviation.

(Previous annual income) is almost 9,000 yuan, but I did not do well enough. After joining the cooperative, it gradually improved. The annual (income) is more than 5,000 yuan. I hope that it can continue to develop.
[Explanation] It is understood that Dingshan Village is a deeply impoverished village at the Guangxi Autonomous Region level. The village’s land is divided into three parts sand and seven parts stone, which is not suitable for crop cultivation.
After investigation, the first secretary of the village decided to introduce chrysanthemum cultivation and planting in consideration of the large temperature difference between day and night.
The technical difficulty of chrysanthemum planting is relatively low, and it also attracts young and old people who cannot go out to work to join the planting ranks, increasing family income.

(In the beginning) we would never grow this (chrysanthemum) seedling. We had to go to Huangshan to introduce this seedling back. From the second year on, we will raise this (chrysanthemum) seedling ourselves.
Promote poor households and surplus labor to find employment locally and nearby. Each person will have a few thousand yuan of labor income a year.
[Explanation] Chrysanthemum planting is the leading poverty alleviation industry in Dingshan Village. After chrysanthemums are picked, dried, packaged and other processes, the dried chrysanthemum flowers are made into tea by soaking in water, which has the functions of dispelling wind, clearing heat, detoxifying, and reducing inflammation. Good products for both medicine and tea, with good market prospects.

And now our sales and sales channels have also opened up. Last year (2019) we planted (chrysanthemums) were not enough to sell, and now we are out of stock. Last year, our output was about 5,000 jin (dried flowers). In this way, there are 100 dried flowers per mu. Jin, we now sell it in the market for 200 yuan a Jin.
[Explanation] At present, the annual sales of the chrysanthemum planting industry in Dingshan Village has reached 1 million yuan, which has driven 1,000 employment in the local rural areas, including 50 poor households with 186 people, and attracted more than 20,000 chrysanthemum visitors.
