The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the United Arab Emirates signed an agreement on air transport services with the Civil Aviation Authority in the State of Israel, with the aim of strengthening air relations between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by the UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Abdullah bin Touq al-Marri, and by Israel, the Minister of Transport, Yisrael Katz, during their meeting at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv yesterday.

During the meeting, issues of common interest in the civil aviation sector were discussed.

Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri said: “The agreement is an important step on the road to positive and constructive cooperation in the growing relations between the two countries, following the signing of the Abrahamic Agreement for the Historic Peace, which aims to establish the foundations of peace, achieve progress, and enhance opportunities for economic and social development in the region.

He added, "The agreement will contribute to consolidating joint cooperation in the civil aviation sector, which is one of the most vital sectors in the two countries, in addition to strengthening the country's position on the global stage, as the UAE ranks first in the world in terms of the number of signed air transport service agreements."

According to this agreement, the UAE airlines will be able to operate 28 passenger flights per week to Tel Aviv, and unlimited flights to Eilat, in addition to cargo flights. As for unscheduled flights, it has been agreed that no restrictions will be placed on them between the two countries.

It is expected that the scheduled flights between the UAE and the State of Israel will start within the next few weeks.
