SK Hynix has signed a transfer agreement to acquire the NAND division, the memory business unit of Intel Corporation in the United States, for KRW 10.34 trillion.

The resolution of the board of directors was also completed in the morning of today (20th).

The acquisition segment is the entire NAND business segment, including Intel's SSD business, NAND unit, wafer business, and Dalian production facility in China.

It is known that SK hynix has taken over the NAND business to strengthen its competitiveness in the memory semiconductor sector.

SK hynix currently ranks second in the DRAM segment after Samsung, but the NAND segment ranks fifth in the global market as of last year.

However, if Intel is acquired, the NAND market share is about 20%, ranking second in the world after Samsung.

In particular, in the enterprise SSD market, which is Intel's strength, it is expected to rise to the world's No. 1 over Samsung.

Intel has been pursuing a cleanup of the relatively incompetent memory business division.

Meanwhile, the Korea Exchange stopped SK Hynix's stock trading in the morning.

The exchange explained, "You can stop trading when you disclose important business matters that may have a significant impact on the stock price or trading volume, such as the transfer of business."
