Abu Dhabi Economy bans the sale of cement packed in bags that do not carry a quality certificate

The Department of Economic Development, in Abu Dhabi, issued a circular to outlets for building materials sales across the emirate, prohibiting the sale of cement packed in bags that do not carry a federal or local quality certificate, represented by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology and the Abu Dhabi Council for Quality and Conformity.

The department stated in its circular that this directive, which comes in coordination with its strategic partners, aims to achieve quality standards for the local product of building materials to ensure the safety of the local product, preserve the rights of consumers and combat commercial fraud.

In the context of the circular, the department stated that, starting from the issuance of this circular, the sale of cement packed in bags that do not carry a local or federal quality certificate is prohibited, as building materials sales outlets are granted a six-month period to adjust their conditions, noting that the inspection teams in the department will carry out inspection campaigns to Sales outlets to ensure the implementation of this circular.

Abu Dhabi Economy stressed that violating what was stated in this circular by the concerned companies and institutions will expose them to the violation and legal accountability and the imposition of administrative sanctions in accordance with the procedures followed by it.
