Novak noted that “the initial restrictions clearly reduced the aggregate demand for energy resources, but after their relaxation, the recovery was launched unevenly compared to the pre-crisis period”.

The minister said that at present "this process has slowed down due to the second wave of coronavirus, but has not fully developed."

“It is obvious that, despite the existing stability today, we see a lot of uncertainty, the virus has already caused colossal damage to many sectors of the economy, including the oil sector.

We see how difficult the recovery is going on, we see a lot of uncertainties that prevent a return to pre-crisis indicators of the economy, world consumption of oil raw materials, ”Novak quoted TASS as saying.

Earlier, Novak said that "oil will remain the leading source of energy for more than a decade."

In September, Stanislav Mitrakhovich, a leading expert of the National Energy Security Fund and the Financial University under the Government of Russia, in an interview with the Economics Today FBA, assessed the situation on the oil market.
