Etihad Airways operates the first commercial passenger flight from a Gulf country to Israel

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, will become the first Gulf airline to operate commercial passenger flights to and from Israel to transport the most prominent Israeli tourism and aviation companies to the United Arab Emirates.

The historic flight, which will be operated in partnership with Mamon Group, will depart Tel Aviv on October 19 on an Etihad Boeing 787 Dreamliner for a three-and-a-half hour flight from Israel to the UAE, while the return flight departs Abu Dhabi on October 21.

The flight will carry a group of travel industry leaders, decision-makers, travel and freight agents and media professionals to learn about Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates in general, at the invitation of Etihad Airways and representatives of the tourism sector in Abu Dhabi.

This represents the latest development in the growing relations between the two countries after the signing of the Abraham Agreement between the UAE and Israel in Washington on September 15, and after the operation of the symbolic commercial flight of El Al, the national carrier of Israel between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi, on August 31.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Aviation Group, Mohamed Mubarak Fadel Al Mazrouei, said: “Today's flight is a historic opportunity to develop a strong relationship here in the UAE and in Israel, and Etihad Airways is pleased to open this path. As one of the factors that facilitate trade, flights between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi will carry commercial goods to and from certain points along the Etihad network, along with passengers.
