The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the 19th to introduce the operation of the national economy in the first three quarters of 2020.

Liu Aihua introduced the employment situation of college graduates and migrant workers at the meeting.

She said that from the monitoring data, the pressure on the employment situation of college graduates in September was alleviated, and the employment situation is getting better.

In the early part of this year, under the impact of the epidemic, many companies stopped work and recruitment activities were also suspended. Therefore, the employment pressure of college graduates during the graduation season was relatively high.

By September, the graduation season has gradually passed, and the employment situation of graduates has improved significantly.

In September, the surveyed unemployment rate for persons aged 20-24 with college degree and above dropped by 2.4 percentage points from the previous month.

Regarding the employment of migrant workers, at the end of the third quarter, there were 179 million migrant workers, an increase of 2 million compared with the end of the second quarter, indicating that the migrant labor force is increasing.

Judging from the monitored urban survey unemployment rate, the survey unemployment rate of migrant workers also decreases month by month.

Therefore, generally speaking, the employment of migrant workers is also improving.

In addition, Liu Aihua pointed out that although the unemployment rate of college graduates surveyed for persons aged 20-24 years old and above in September dropped by 2.4 points from the previous month, it still rose by 4 percentage points from the same period last year. It's quite big for college graduates.

Although the migrant labor force increased at the end of the third quarter compared with the end of the second quarter, it was down by more than 3.8 million or 2.1% year-on-year.

Therefore, it is necessary to further strengthen the implementation of policies through measures such as protecting market players, helping enterprises to relieve difficulties, and encouraging flexible employment to further ease the employment pressure of these key groups.
