On October 17, at the "National Poverty Alleviation Award Commendation Conference", a number of e-commerce anchors appeared and received national commendations.

Among them, anchor Wei Ya and online shop owner Zhao Hailing from Sichuan won the "National Poverty Alleviation Dedication Award", and "Magic Bean Mother" Fu Fanping won the "National Poverty Alleviation Endeavour Award".

These winners are all practicing new ways of poverty alleviation through the Internet in their respective fields.

For example, since September 2018, Wei Ya has participated in nearly a hundred e-commerce public welfare live broadcasts, leading to a cumulative turnover of 560 million yuan, Hubei Ziguilun night orange, Anhui Dangshan pear paste, Hunan Chengbu honey, Shaanxi Tushui fungus , Shanxi Pingshun Dahongpao pepper and other agricultural products are sold across the country through the Weiya live studio.

Live broadcast e-commerce for poverty alleviation has become a new means of poverty alleviation.

Alibaba, JD, Pinduoduo and other platforms have all launched e-commerce assistance programs for farmers.

According to Taobao live broadcast data, in the past three years, over 100,000 peasant anchors have been born in the Taobao live broadcast room, and an average of 13,000 live broadcasts for public welfare are conducted every day. Mobile phones have become a new "farming tool" and data has become a new "agricultural means".

Zhao Hailing, the owner of Taobao shop in Qingchuan County who was commended this time, represents another new way of Internet poverty alleviation.

After graduating from university in 2009, Zhao Hailing returned to his hometown of Qingchuan County to devote himself to reconstruction after the earthquake.

With the support of the Qingchuan project aided by Ali, Zhao Hailing opened a Taobao store to sell agricultural products.

In the past ten years, she has taken root in Qingchuan, and the online store has driven more than 4,000 edible mushroom farmers in Qingchuan to sell local mountain products to all parts of the country, helping the people in the mountains to achieve continuous income growth.

Fu Fanping, who lost his hands due to severe burns, not only found the courage to live a new life by opening a Taobao store to sell local products such as apples and millets, but also actively promoted the employment of more than 300 local disabled folks and guided more than 60 people to register and start Taobao shop.

The cases of Wei Ya, Zhao Hailing and Fu Fanping show that the Internet has become a powerful tool for poverty alleviation.

In 2019, the national online retail sales of agricultural products reached 397.5 billion yuan, an increase of 1.5 times over 2016.

According to Alibaba data, the e-commerce sales of 832 national poverty-stricken counties through the Ali platform have exceeded 310 billion yuan.

JD.com revealed that as of September 30, 2020, sales of poverty alleviation exceeded 100 billion yuan.

Ma Longlong, president of the China Business Economics Association, said that for a long time, due to poor traffic and information congestion in poor areas, many high-quality specialty products have small markets and low returns.

With the help of e-commerce for poverty alleviation, specialty agricultural products in poor areas can be connected to the big market and sold at good prices, which has promoted the development of poverty alleviation industries in poverty-stricken areas and the income of poor people have been lifted out of poverty, which has played an important role in winning the fight against poverty as scheduled.
