Maersk, the largest container shipping company in the world, is cutting 2,000 jobs to cut costs.
The Danish company announced this on Tuesday.
About one in five containers shipped worldwide is transported by Maersk's blue ships.
The shipping company employs around 80,000 people worldwide and is also present in the port of Rotterdam.
According to Maersk, container traffic has picked up faster than previously expected after the big blow in the spring.
As a result of the outbreak of COVID-19, a lot of transport was canceled.
The rates have also increased as a result of increased demand.
Nevertheless, transport is still below the level of last year.
The cutting of 2,000 jobs is part of a reorganization announced last month in which Maersk wants to integrate container transport and onshore logistics activities.
