29 industrial facilities in Abu Dhabi enter production with an investment of 2.6 billion dirhams


 The performance indicators of the industrial sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi during the first half of the year 2020 achieved an increase in the number of new industrial licenses in the categories of "industry pioneers" and "under construction" by 18% and 33%, respectively, compared to the same period last year. 29 licenses went into production during the same period, with a total investment value of 2.6 billion dirhams.


This came according to the results of the report of the industrial sector performance indicators in the emirate for the first half of this year, issued by the Industrial Development Office of the Department of Economic Development - Abu Dhabi.


Muhammad Ali Muhammad Al-Shurafa Al Hammadi, Head of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, said that the report on the results and indicators of industrial licenses during the first half of this year clearly indicates an increase in most performance indicators in the industrial sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, despite the repercussions of the spread of the Coronavirus crisis 19 "on the regional and global economies.


He pointed out that the positive indicators reflected in the report confirm the success of the qualitative initiatives recently launched by the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and implemented by the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi in partnership with a number of government agencies with the aim of promoting the process of sustainable economic development and ensuring business continuity in the emirate.

For his part, Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development in Abu Dhabi, said that despite the repercussions of the "Covid 19" crisis on various business sectors, the report of the Industrial Development Bureau showed that the number of licenses that were transferred to a "under construction" status during the first half From this year, it reached 32 registered licenses, an increase of 33%, compared to the number of licenses during the same period last year, which reached 24 licenses.


Al-Balushi said: “The report monitored a remarkable increase in the investment value index of the licenses transferred to the“ under construction ”status during the first half of this year, as their investment value reached 570 million dirhams, compared to the same period last year, which amounted to 138 million dirhams. It clearly reflects the increasing investor confidence in the industrial sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.


He pointed out that the number of licenses that came into production during the first half of 2020 reached 29 licenses, with a total investment value of 2.6 billion dirhams, compared to about 32 licenses during the same period last year, which reflects the stability of the industrial sector growth in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi despite the crisis. Covid 19 ", which affected many economic sectors not only in the UAE but also worldwide, noting that the Industrial Development Bureau is currently working on converting 10 industrial licenses from a" under construction "status to a" production "state.


For his part, Muhammad Munif Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Bureau, affirmed the office’s keenness to continue its efforts to support the industrial sector, in a way that enhances performance indicators and the competitiveness of Abu Dhabi’s economy regionally and internationally.


He referred to the license statistics mentioned in the report, as the total number of industrial licenses issued in Abu Dhabi until the end of the first half of this year was about 1608 licenses, distributed over 829 licenses with a status of “production”, 539 licenses with a status of “under construction” and 240 new licenses for “industry leaders”. Pointing out that the new industrial licenses "Industry Pioneers" constitute 14.93% of the total number of industrial licenses issued and registered at the level of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.


He added that the Industrial Development Bureau issued 12,412 customs exemption certificates during the first half of this year, compared to 12440 certificates during the same period last year, which reflects the stability of the rate of customs exemption requests in light of the current crisis, and the positive continuity of the operational and construction operations of the factories.


Al-Mansoori stated that Abu Dhabi city acquired 21 new industrial facilities that entered production during the first half of this year, while Al Ain and Al Dhafra Region registered 4 new industrial establishments each.


He pointed out that the new industries that entered into production in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi included 4 industrial facilities for constructions and glass, 3 facilities for food industries, 4 chemical industrial facilities, 5 metal industries, 4 equipment and machinery industrial facilities, 4 general industries facilities, in addition to one facility for each From the textile, clothing and leather industries, to the rubber, plastic and fiberglass industries, to the timber industry, to the energy and sustainability industry, to the electronic and electrical industries.
