He stated that "a very relevant and popular topic now is hydrogen, its production, storage and use in the future as an energy source or energy storage."

“By the way, we also pay great attention to this in Russia, our companies, such as Gazprom and Rosatom, are actively engaged in scientific research in this direction, the development of appropriate technologies ... Our task here is to be, so to speak, in the trend of those changes that are taking place, and to have the appropriate technology, "- quoted by RIA Novosti Novak.

The minister noted that "a lot depends on the cost, the economy of the process."

“In my opinion ... there is indeed a lot of potential in this,” he said.

According to him, "many say that the share in the energy balance in the future may reach from 7 to 25% of hydrogen."

And, as noted by Novak, "taking into account the cheapening of technologies for generating electricity from solar and wind, these technologies are now actively developing in terms of price."

He said that "this will, of course, make the issue of hydrogen production cheaper."

“Currently, it is mainly natural gas - the main source of production of the so-called gray and blue hydrogen,” he added.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Ministry of Energy, together with interested organizations, will hold the BRICS Energy Week on October 10-16.
