This Thursday, according to a press release from Fiber Excellence, the Tarascon pulp mill of this company was placed in receivership by the commercial court of Toulouse, the city near which the parent company of Fiber is based. Excellency.

The managers of this factory had decided last week to declare the site in bankruptcy, at a time when concern grows over the future of this factory employing nearly 300 people.

Some 3,000 jobs, particularly in the forestry sector in several regions of France, also depend on this plant.

Government at the bedside

In view of this placement in receivership, the government indicated last Friday during a telephone press point its intention to be "present to support the site during the observation period", otherwise "the risk was certain of 'go to compulsory liquidation'.

The parent company of Fiber Excellence is itself owned by the Canadian company Paper Excellence, owned by Jackson Widjaja, whose family runs Asia Pulp and Paper, an Indonesian giant of global stationery.
